Heather (Sonksen) Jones Born in Mason City, Iowa
Attended all grades in Clear Lake, Iowa
Married Tim Jones in 1994, we have 4 children: daughters Tiffany (1992) and Brittany(1995), sons Dakota (1997) and Dalton (2006).
We have three grand children - all girls! Harley (2013) and Gabriella (2015) Wickwire and Jade (2015) Gamble.
Previous employment includes cashier at Easter's Foods, waitress then shift manager at Pizza Hut, personal assistant then receptionist at Opportunity Village. I worked as an individual contractor for CMT, which is a virtual call center for the psychic lines. I got to work out of my home office, which really saved on the day care bills! However, Miss Cleo was not a real psychic, caused a lot of problems, and CMT was shut down. Yes, I am still a weirdo that loves the esoteric studies and other such controversial issues!
I started to further my education in 2003 at Hamilton College. The biggest challenge I faced was juggling kids, husband, housework, school, and work. I found myself sounding more and more like the Little Engine that Could. However, I did very well and graduated with honors in December of 2005 with my AAS in Accounting.
We moved to Minnesota in 2005 and I planned to take a summer off to be with my children then re-enter the workforce in the fall of 2006. However, someone greater and more powerful than me decided I needed another child after 9 years! Dalton was born December of 2006. Then, after my brother-in-law's suicide in the spring of 2009, we chose to move back to the North Iowa area to what's most important: FAMILY.
I worked at the Swaledale Public Library as Assistant Director and was promoted to Director. I loved it! So much, in fact, that I decided I wanted to further my education in order to get into a larger library. So as of January 2015, I am a HAWKEYE. I will be working towards my BAS with Creative Writing emphasis. I left the library to focus on my part time church secretary job and full time school.
My parents sold the Victorian home in Clear Lake many years ago and enjoy living on Brook Terrace in Mason City. Dad is an adjunct professor at NIACC and mom works from home. Troy is in St. Louis Park, MN with his wife - his two kids are all grown up now. Ben and his wife live in Johnston, IA with their three boys.
Travels: 1991 New York with the high school choir to sing in Carnegie Hall (what an experience...ahem...Erin!). 1991 Florida to Ft. Walton Beach, Pensacola, and the Air Force Base when my older brother got married. 1995 to the Omaha Zoo in Nebraska (definitely a place to take the kids!) Inexpensive, also. 2006 Las Vegas, baby! Four nights, five days...all I can say is man, what a trip! 2011 I had to take a library management class in Des Moines, so we decided to make a mini-vacation of it...you wouldn't believe the neat stuff we found to do so close to home!
Hobbies: playing my flute, camping all summer (our boys were featured in the Globe Gazette in 2012 while camping), genealogy, reading, and researching the "weird" stuff like psychic abilities, visits from spirits, past lives, etc. 08/2016
